The idea for the site stemmed from a neighborhood event and limited selection of fire pits from local stores.
The site owner for MyFirePits.com Geoffrey F. Moore was also on the board of his local homeowners association and as a community event they created a large fire pit in a common green space. According to site owner Geoffrey F. Moore, "One of the most cost effective things we did with our common space was to create a fire pit. Once a week it would draw 10 to 20 neighbors. Some neighbors even started bringing truckloads of firewood for the weekly event."
Moore took that idea and did some additional research online regarding how others are using fire pits. Moore noted, "I was curious to see what others were doing with fire pits. After a little research I noticed that fire pits are a big deal and that their use has actually been climbing recently."
Between increase in consumer demand and the limited selection available from local retailers Moore created MyFirePits.com to help others find fire pits appropriate for their backyard or local community.
The site contains a solid and growing lineup of fire pits. The prices range from $79 to over $500. They continue to add new vendors and suppliers to add to the increasing selection and options available to their website visitors.
Future plans for the site include adding other fire sources such as outdoor heaters, chimineas and other accessories. Other specialty items coming to the site include custom fire pits. These custom fire pits will come in standard bowls and have the ability to cut out custom logos from the main part of the fire pit.
When asked what makes the site different Moore answered, "It's not really about the fire pits. It's about the community that can be created from them. That's what I hope the site inspires in others."
