QTrade Teas and Herbs, the largest importer of organic teas in North America, will hold a grand opening for its new manufacturing facility in Cerritos, California on Monday, July 16. QTrade’s expansion parallels the steady growth of the American tea industry, expected to exceed $5 billion in retail sales by 2013.

Tea’s new place in the American market is exemplified by Starbucks’ announcement that it will build TAZO brand tea rooms by the end of 2012, Coca-Cola’s 2011 acquisition of organic bottled company Honest Tea, and the rapid growth of Teavana loose-leaf tea stores nationwide. It is estimated that McDonald’s iced tea sales alone are worth hundreds of millions of dollars annually.

QTrade Teas and Herbs imports and manufactures teas on behalf of retail brands, coffee roasters, and bottled drink companies. QTrade’s new facility will house over 3 million pounds of inventory, enabling the company to blend and package up to 40,000 Lbs of specialty hot and iced teas each day.
